By accessing or using Citations.law and its services, including CiteGuard ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Citations.law provides legal citation verification tools. CiteGuard is a deterministic citation-checking service that compares legal citations found in uploaded documents against a database of published court decisions.
The Service is a verification tool, not a legal research platform, law firm, or legal advisor. The Service does not provide legal advice. Results should be reviewed by a qualified attorney.
You must register for an account to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information and maintain the security of your login credentials. Account access may require administrator approval.
You agree not to:
Documents submitted to the Service are processed in real time for citation verification. Documents are not stored on our servers after processing is complete. No document content is used for training, sold to third parties, or disclosed to anyone. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that the citation database is complete or that all valid citations will be found. A citation reported as "not in corpus" means only that it was not found in our current database — not that the citation is invalid.
Citations.law shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the twelve months preceding the claim.
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at info@citations.law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
